Hailing from my absolute favorite BBQ book of all time, Soaked, Slathered, and Seasoned, this all-purpose rub is destined to top your list of must-have grilling essentials this summer. Bursting with bold, smoky, and spicy flavors, it’s the kind of seasoning you’ll want to sprinkle on everything—from chicken and pork to grilled veggies, even popcorn. One of my go-to kitchen hacks is making big batches of spice rubs and condiments ahead of time. When the mood to cook just isn't there, having something like this rub ready to go means dinner can still be delicious with minimal effort.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup (60 g) sweet paprika
1/4 cup (50 g) sugar
1 tablespoon (9 g) mustard powder
1/4 cup (24 g) ground cumin
1/4 cup (30 g) garlic powder
1 tablespoon (7 g) black pepper
1 tablespoon (6 g) cayenne pepper or other spicy chili powder

Instructions:

Mix all ingredients together in a bowl until evenly combined. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. Use as a dry rub on meats, tofu, or vegetables before grilling, smoking, or roasting.
